Content Warnings & Age Restriction
Last updated: June 2026Indecent Bookworm lives firmly in dark romance, fantasy, paranormal, monster romance, and horror — so a lot of what I review is gloriously not for everyone. My goal is to help you make informed choices. But every reader’s comfort level is different, and no warning system can catch every individual trigger, so a little self-knowledge goes a long way here.
Age restriction
Indecent Bookworm is intended for readers who are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction. By using this website, you confirm you meet that minimum age requirement.
This site reviews dark romance, fantasy romance, paranormal romance, monster romance, horror, and other mature fiction. Many of the books discussed contain content that may not be suitable for all readers, and the site itself may include discussions of:
- Explicit sexual content
- Dark romance themes
- Violence and gore
- Psychological manipulation
- Trauma and abuse
- Non-traditional relationships
- Horror content
- Monster and paranormal relationships
- Other mature subject matter
My content warning philosophy
Content warnings here are a reader resource, not a guarantee. Whenever I can, I flag common concerns and potentially distressing themes — but a few honest caveats:
- Warnings may not be exhaustive.
- I may unintentionally miss certain triggers.
- Publishers and authors don’t always disclose every sensitive topic.
- Interpretations of content can vary from person to person.
If you have specific concerns, please do a little extra digging before diving in.
And the thing I mean most: your mental health matters more than any book. If a trope or topic is going to cost you, you have full permission to skip the review, skip the book, and take care of yourself first. Always.

Reader responsibility
Every reader has unique boundaries and comfort levels. I do my best to give helpful warnings and honest reviews, but you’re ultimately the one who decides whether a book is right for you. If you have specific triggers or concerns, I’d recommend:
- Reviewing publisher descriptions
- Checking author-provided content warnings
- Consulting community review sites
- Reading multiple reviews before purchasing
Reviews are opinions
The reviews and ratings here reflect my personal reading experiences. A glowing review doesn’t mean a book is right for every reader, and the presence of difficult or controversial content doesn’t automatically mean I endorse it.
No endorsement of fictional behavior
A lot of the books I discuss feature fictional characters and situations that would be unhealthy, dangerous, illegal, or unethical in real life. Reviewing or enjoying fiction is not approval or encouragement of real-world behavior. Fiction is a sandbox; this should go without saying, but here we are saying it.
