The Indecent Bookworm
The person behind the chaos

Hi, I’m the Indecent Bookworm

Book nerd since forever. Way too many opinions. An even worse TBR.
why choose devotee monster romance girlie kindle reader trophy shelf collector always has thoughts

I’ve been a book nerd basically my whole life, but romance is something I fell into later. Started out buried in YA in high school like a lot of people do, and at some point it just stopped doing it for me. So I went looking for something with more bite, and oh boy did I find it.

Now it’s why choose, monster romance, and dark romance pretty much around the clock. My family thinks I read a normal amount of books. They have no idea.

How it started
My reading origin story

My first why choose was Madison Kate by Tate James. I went in with basically no idea what I was getting into, and by the end I was sitting there like… wait, she gets to keep all of them? That was allowed this whole time?? Absolutely feral about it. I tore through everything I could find after that.

Then monster romance got me through Ice Planet Barbarians. If you’ve read it, you already get it. If you haven’t, I genuinely cannot explain to you how a big blue alien rearranged my entire brain chemistry, but he did, and I’ve been chasing that high through dragons and orcs and demons ever since. No notes. No regrets.

What I actually read
👑
Why Choose / RH
My first love and still the thing I reach for most. Pack dynamics, reverse harem, all of it. If she gets to keep everyone, I’m already reading it.
Main obsession
🐉
Monster Romance
Dragons, orcs, demons, fae, the odd gargoyle. The less human the better, honestly. IPB started it and there’s no going back now.
Main obsession
🌙
Dark Romance
Morally gray MMCs, captivity, obsession, enemies to lovers that actually has teeth. I like mine messy and a little unhinged.
🔗
Obsessive MMC
One guy, absolutely gone for her, touch-her-and-die. There’s a line between possessive and just cruel though, and I care a lot about which side he’s on.
🌿
Dark Fae
Fated mates, court politics, fae who are gorgeous and kind of terrifying. ACOTAR adjacent but I usually want it pushed way darker.
📚
Slow Burn
When it’s done right the waiting is the whole point. The tension, the near-misses, the payoff you actually had to earn. I’ll suffer for it happily.
How I read
Primary reading device
Kindle
Always. It goes everywhere with me.
Favorite time to read
Any time I can get away with it
Mostly at night, but I’ll absolutely sneak chapters on my lunch break.

Ice Planet Barbarians
Ruby Dixon has a LOT to answer for, frankly.

The Trophy Shelf

Pretty much everything I read lives on my Kindle. But every now and then a book wrecks me so thoroughly that having it digitally just isn’t enough and I have to own the damn thing for real. Those earn a spot on the bookshelf. That’s the trophy shelf. It’s small and I’m extremely picky about it, so making the cut is the biggest compliment I’ve got.

Why I built this

Real talk? Nobody in my actual life reads romance. Not my friends, not my family, nobody. So when I finish something that completely guts me, I’ve got no one to call. No one to scream about the ending with, no one to receive my unhinged 1am rant about a fictional dragon. I got so sick of having all these thoughts and nowhere to dump them that I just built somewhere. So if you’ve ever shut a book and immediately needed to talk to literally anyone about it — hi, welcome, this is for you. I’ve got opinions for days and now I’ve got a place to put them.
